After eleven years representing Ingol & Tanterton on Preston City Council, Bill Shannon has announced that he is not standing for re-election in May. “When I retired from my paid employment back in 2002, I was determined to get onto the Council, and hopefully do a bit of good for the local community”, says Bill “Now, I’m coming up to 70, and it’s time for me to retire again! Of course, I’ll still be around in the community, as Chair of Intact, Chair of Governors of Ingol Community Primary School, and on the board of the new Tanterton Village Centre ltd – but I’ll no longer be spending so much time in meetings in the Town Hall!
It’s time to hand over to a younger person, and I have no hesitation in recommending Neil Darby to you. Neil has worked hard with us behind the scenes for a number of years. Now it is time for him to take up from where I am leaving off”
