A Liberal Democrat amendment to the LCC budget was accepted in full by Lancashire County Council. The Liberal Democrats stated that:
Given the significant financial challenges facing the County, the Liberal Democrat amendment to the budget asks Council to recognise the priorities of:
sustainable, environmentally friendly, economic growth
delivery of long term cost reductions
continued support to vulnerable people
“When we signed our agreement with the Labour Party on 23rd May 2013 our key priority was, and still is, to protect front line services within a balanced budget framework. We also stated that agreement would be needed on how to achieve budget reductions to bridge the funding shortfall”, said County Cllr Bill Winlow the Liberal Democrat Leader on the Council. “The arrangement with the Labour Group was generally working very well and the Council was operating in a professional manner as it grappled with problems”.
In these difficult times, we will continue to fight for what matters to people in Ingol and Tanterton.
