Cllr Bill Shannon says “I was appalled to see a planning application by Hollins Strategic Land to build a superstore in a totally inappropriate location off Lightfoot Lane/Eastway and the Garstang Road roundabout.  Can you imagine the traffic chaos which would result if planning permission were given?  But the real problem is that if it gets permission, it could seriously affect the planned development of the Brickworks.  The latest we hear on that front is that the ecological works for the nature reserve and Great Crested Newts has all been completed. There has been some delay over a question of access to the development site, but that is now sorted.  I hope before long we can report some good news that work is about to start – but first we must oppose this other opportunistic application”
