The FT reports that the Government is set to push ahead with its efforts to develop tidal energy around the UK coastline. Two power projects in north Wales and Scotland, for tidal energy farms off Anglesey and the Orkney Islands, will receive Government grants worth £20m in an attempt to develop the UK’s expertise in tidal energy in the belief that it will become an important source of renewable energy.
“It’s about time too” says Bill Winlow. “Tidal energy is abundant and available at all times unlike wind energy which is very variable. More should have been spent on developing this form of sustainable energy sooner”
